"The wonderful people at the Sports View (where we had no reservation) helped us deal with a booking issue with another venue and supplier even though they didn't have to. On this alone I'd trust them implicitly with any travel plans. The next time we have to stay in Oxford they will be our first call!"

"When we arrived in Oxford, it was scorching hot. The hottest in nearly 100 years! The room has a portable air-conditioning but it didn't really work. Otherwise the room is all good. Clean, easily fits 4 adults. Spacious. There is parking available too."

"I stayed for one night in a twin room with my daughter. The situation is perfect - in walking distance to town but far enough away to be a bit quieter overnight. The room was comfortable, perfectly big enough and beds were fine (just a little firm for my preference). There were tea and coffee facilities and also a wardrobe and drawers, plus bedside units. The bathroom was compact but had everything you needed and the shower was decent.||It was a very warm night in the middle of a heatwave and an efficient fan was kindly left in the room. We still felt as if we needed to have the window open, and there was some noise from the main road during the night - just one of those things. When we shut the window, the noise was gone. ||Breakfast the next day was a good continental buffet offer in a spacious room with toast and hot drinks brought to the table.||We'd stay again."

"One of the reception staff was extremely rude and unreasonable. He behaved in a discriminatory manner, was overly aggressive and emotionally unstable, and treated us very badly for no reason at all. We were asked to leave even though we had done nothing wrong, and he insisted on refunding only half of the payment. The whole experience felt intimidating and completely unfair. I strongly recommend that people avoid staying at this hotel. β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€” Supplementary Response :What you are saying is completely inconsistent and appears to be based on your own imagination. On the day, you first claimed our car alarm went off once, then twice, and now you are saying it happened three times. Your story keeps changing. We later had the vehicle checked, and at the new hotel nobody reported any issue with the car or heard any alarm. In fact, apart from you, nobody else mentioned hearing anything at all. Given your extreme reaction and aggressive behaviour towards guests who had done nothing wrong, I sincerely kind suggest that you speak with a GP for your own wellbeing.😊"

"We had a two-night stay at the Sportsview Guest House in April 2026. This is an ideal place to stay, and especially so if you have a car and want to be very near Oxford city centre. Carrying a lot of stuff in our car during a tour, we didn’t want to leave it on the street or in a Park & Ride. You can park at the Sportsview from 12 noon (but can’t check in until 4.00 pm) – arrive early as there are not many spaces!||We had a lovely room (26) on the top floor, but note that there’s no lift so you need to be reasonably mobile. We had a super view across Queen’s College sportsground, and beyond to the river and boathouses - including that of my old college, by a stroke of good fortune! The room was spotlessly clean, with everything working properly and simple to operate (shower, heating system, TV, etc). There was a simple sheet of basic house rules and information in large print, and a clear city map on the other side of the sheet. More than enough tea and coffee was supplied, and a housekeeping/cleaning service was provided before our second night without us asking, or even expecting it. What a pleasant change from many places these days which, supposedly β€˜in the interests of the environment’, provide no housekeeping unless you beg, and supply no information whatsoever unless you download an app and scan a QR code.||Continental breakfast was fine for us, served in a pleasant basement room, including eggs and cold meat; but if you want a full English breakfast, you have to go elsewhere. There are places a short distance away, and in fact, the guesthouse is less than a 15-minute gentle walk from the city centre, making it a very convenient place indeed to stay.||Frankly, during our short visit to Oxford I can find very little to fault about the Sportsview Guest House, and it was also excellent value for money, in a rather expensive city. Many thanks to the team of Bernie, Alan and Matt for making everything here so simple, sensible and straightforward!"
